The original Glory of the Seas, built in 1869, set a record of 35 days from San Francisco to Sydney, Australia, and was the last clipper ship to sail from New York around Cape Horn to San Francisco in less than 100 days.

The 250-foot wooden clipper ships was scrapped, beached and burned off Brace Point in Washington in 1923.
